Mercedes-Benz Start Up competition now offering $30,000 cash prize to emerging fashion designers
Finally! After three years, Mercedes- Benz Start Up (MBSU) is now offering up a cash prize of $30,000 to the winner of this year’s competition which is great news and brings it on par with the long-time running TFI New Labels, which I call the “original Project Runway”, run by the non-profit Toronto Fashion Incubator.
To qualify, designers must have a registered Canadian business that has been operating for less than five years. Submissions are now open and the MBSU team will be travelling the country in search of the next emerging Canadian design talent.
Upcoming tour dates include:
- Victoria, British Columbia: August 12 and 13
- Gatineau, Quebec: August 18 and 19
- Burlington, Ontario: August 20 and 21
If accepted, designers present their collection and business plan to the judges and the finalists present their collections on the runway at World MasterCard Fashion Week in October.
