What a feeling! Flashdance: The Musical at Ed Mirvish Theatre until June 8
There are a few things on the top of my Things I Love in Life list: 80’s movies, 80’s music and musical theatre.
Last night I got to experience all three rolled in to one fun theatrical experience at Flashdance: The Musical at Ed Mirvish Theatre. And what a feeling it was…
If you’ve ever seen the movie, you’ll know the plot line. If you’re a massive fan of the movie, just enjoy this for what it is – a fun, energetic translation of the silver screen story. And the costumes are stop on 80’s amazingness with even a replica of Madonna’s famous Keith Haring “Boy Toy” jacket.
The lead playing Alex, Sydney Morton reminded me of a young Paula Abdul. Gloria Claire Mason was great as Gloria; someone needs to cast her as Roxie in Chicago, she’d be so great. And you just can’t take your eyes off of Kyra Da Costa who plays dancer Kiki – her voice is crisp and soulful.
It’s a short run here in Toronto, so grab your tickets now while you can.
