Lucian Matis Created a Little Chaos During Fashion Week

Showing off-site and off of the official LG Fashion Week calendar, Lucian Matis showed his Fall/Winter 2011 collection at Toronto’s Design Exchange on Wednesday, March 30.
“I have decided to show off site for a few reasons, but mainly because of the freedom of having a setting of my choice. I guess I got tired of showing on a white plywood background,” explained Lucian before his show. “The theme for this season is Chaos and it will be presented in the setting of one of my most favorite buildings in Toronto, the Design Exchange.”
When we arrived on the trading floor of the DX, hanging from the ceiling was the work of Lucian’s partner, makeup artist Neil Schmidt: 500 light bulbs spelling out LUCIAN MATIS. I was also covering fashion week for TDotTV with Justin Edmead, who captured some beautiful footage of the show while I had the opportunity to interview some key people involved with the show including fashion stylist Zeina Esmail, event planners Candice & Allison, photographer Arline Malakian, and guests supermodel, designer and actor Monica Schnarre and Ainsley Kerr:

PART TWO:
One of the busiest designers in our nation, Lucian is currently working on four lines: Lucian Matis, Matis by Lucian Matis, Daphne and a new eyewear line to launch later this year.
On Daphne:
“This is our 6th season working together with the team from the Shopping Channel and it has been nothing but a true pleasure. I love the mix of fashion, television and sales. It is also a great opportunity to reach the mainstream woman and give her access to my design from the comfort of their home.”
On Matis by Lucian Matis:
“Matis by Lucian Matis will be sold in various boutiques across Canada and it is being launched this Fall. It is a “walk to wear” line and it has a full range of clothing from day, to evening to gowns. This is a bridge collection, giving the client the dream of the Lucian Matis label at affordable prices.”
