Walking The Walk for Windfall at Shopgirls

On Wednesday, October 27, Shopgirls Gallery Boutique hosted their 2nd annual in-store fashion show and fundraiser: Walk the Walk for Windfall. Featuring 6 models made up of customers and friends of Shopgirls and styled by Wendy Woods, their fabulous in-house stylist from The Refinery.

The Model line-up:

Tria Urnom from Windfall Clothing

Unbrelievable blogger and fun gal Breanna Hughes

The sweetest mother/daughter team: Susan Gaby-Trotz (mom)...

...and daughter Sarah Gaby-Trotz

The lovely Lisa Power from Rock-it Promotions

Oh, and some red-lipped chick... yup, ME! PS - LOVED this Mackage coat!

We each had two outfits to wear, choosing from the wide selection of well curated Canadian fashion and accessory designers featured in the store. For all of our second outfits, we all wore Yoga Jeans from Second Clothing – my new favourite jeans. I now am the proud owner of two pairs and I wear them so much, I have to get back to get a couple more pairs. I cannot rave enough about their comfort. They say you’ll end up living in them, and honestly, it’s so true. I’m a high-rise skinny kind of gal, which guarantees no fear of accidental flashing if I have to bend down! I can sit in lotus position in them, but I wouldn’t recommend actually wearing them while doing yoga.

This fantastic video by Cliptheory truly captures the event well and features interviews with the wonderful Shopgirls owner Michelle Germain, Cindy Roemer from Windfall Clothing and the show stylist Wendy Woods who takes some time to talk about some of the personalities on the runway.

Windfall, an award-winning charity, provides NEW donated clothing and other basic-needs items to 64,000 people in the GTA who are struggling with poverty. Over 21,000 of them are children. The items are distributed through 100 social service agencies, such as shelters for abused women and children, centres for newcomers to Canada and job-training programs. NEW basic necessities promote dignity and help increase life-improving opportunities. For every $1 spent to operate, Windfall puts $56 worth of NEW basic-needs items into the hands of those who need them most! Windfall also provides meaningful job training placements and workshops for hundreds of people each year!

The Shopgirls: Michelle Germain, Ashley Winnington-Ball and Wendy Woods
