Showroom Gives Emerging Canadian Designers Spotlight During TIFF 2010

Magnet Creative Management teamed up with soon-to-launch online retailer Ukamaku during the Toronto International Film Festival to create an exclusive mini fashion showroom featuring some of Canada’s fastest rising fashion stars for visiting celebrities and Hollywood executives to wear a little piece of Canada on the red carpet.

Some of our visitors included:

Pepper Binkley walked the red carpet in a Worth. by David C. Wigley cape for the premiere of of her movie Stone starring Mila Jovovich and Robert De Niro. FASHION Magazine was on the red carpet and snapped a great shot.

Ally Casona of Unified Pictures who walked to red carpet for the premiere for Janie Jones, wore Basch by Brandon R. Dwyer and also wore an Amanda Lew Kee leather jacket which caught the eye of Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine fame who wanted one of her own.

24’s Nazneen Contractor

Nazneen Contractor fell in love with many of the items in the showroom, included an Amanda Lew Kee top and Nella Bella bag. We sent her over to the RealTVFilms suite for a little pampering, and they had a chance to chat with her about her role on TV’s 24.

Star of the new CW’ TV show Nikita, Tiffany Hines wore Worth by David C. Wigley and Dianna DiNoble to the 11th Annual InStyle & HFPA Toronto Film Festival Party and  knited Heidi Ackerman dress to the Armani dinner and later at the Roosevelt Room.

Each visitor to the showroom was gifted their own Amanda Lew Kee bracelet and Nella Bella bag.

A-list celebrities, including Rachelle Lefevre of Twilight fame who was in town for the premiere of the Kevin Spacey and Kelly Preston movie Casino Jack , and Canadian actor Malin Akerman who was home for the premiere of her movie The Bang Bang Club with Ryan Phillipe were personally gifted their own Starkers! Corset by Dianna DiNoble.

And it wasn’t just the stars who were loving the Canadian fashion; Hollywood executive producer and owner of Halston, Harvey Weinstein made a special trip north of Yorkville visit to Magnolia after seeing Ally in a Basch dress and even made a couple of purchases!

A big thank you to our sponsors SmartWater and VitaminWater who kept our showroom visitors replenished and hydrated.
