WWF’s National Sweater Day: February 17, 2011
WWF’s National Sweater Day, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited is set for this coming Thursday, February 17. The WWF is asking people across Canada to support the fight against climate change by wearing their favourite (or ironic) sweaters and turning down their thermostat by three degrees. Not only will you be cosy in your sweater, but you can save on your hydro bill too!
The media launch took place on Wednesday, February 2 where we were treated to a fashion show featuring sweaters designed by some of Canada’s top designers, including Allison Wonderland, Aime by Monica Mei, dace, Heidi Ackerman, Lucian Matis, Pink Cobra, Preloved, Thieves, and Zoran Dobric. Each sweater is now on auction at eBay with the funds raised going towards WWF’s iniatives.
“Canadians have a real chance to benefit from turning down their thermostats,” said Gerald Butts, WWF’s President and CEO. “Energy conservation is an important part of fighting climate change, and we want to show Canadians how comfortable they can be with their homes and business a few degrees cooler and their sweaters a few centimeters thicker.”

The model line up, featuring local notables Hannah Georgas, Naomi Snieckus, Melanie Ng, Gil Deacon, FLARE's Erin O'Brien, and Suzie McNeil.
They’ve also got a little fun thing going on on their Facebook page with their ‘Get Sweatered’ Facebook app, where you can play around with different sweaters, accessories, and hairstyles.
